The iconic Bunker Building, in Liverpool has received yet another prestigious award, this time from the British Council for Offices (BCO). The building, which underwent a £4 million revamp in 2015, was hailed as the most stylish office space in Britain.

It was also commended for its architectural excellence at the esteemed Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Awards earlier this year.

Formerly the headquarters of Littlewoods, the Bunker Building was re-imagined by architect ShedKM and developer Capital & Centric, and Artez was chosen to transform it into 20,000 sq ft of contemporary commercial space. Following the extensive refurbishment, the once derelict Edge Lane site’s future has been turned around, with the ‘Bunker’ now housing the most desirable commercial office space in Liverpool.

Mike Banton, Artez MD, said: “We’re really lucky to have been involved in such an innovative and genuinely exciting project. It’s not often that offices generate this much intrigue and interest, but you only have to take a look inside ‘Bunker’ to understand why.

“Capital & Centric is renowned for its unique approach to redevelopment and the ‘Bunker’ is a perfect example of their style, which has resulted in a building that is reinvigorated with avant-garde design whilst paying homage to its history and roots.”

Neighbouring buildings – the East Wing and West Wing – are also due to be transformed into film and TV studios, as part of the multi-million development. Artez is due to start work on the East Wing in 2017.
