Ugly House to Lovely House

April 12, 2016

At Artez, we’re proud to deliver a broad range of unique projects – from rural barn conversions to commercial fit-outs – and it’s not uncommon to see unusual or wacky buildings on our books.

One of our most notable projects was Triptych – an extension to a home in Sale – which has truly created a stir and captured the attention of the nation, including none other than Channel 4’s George Clark.

We were thrilled to spot Triptych on a recent episode of the ever-popular Ugly House to Lovely House. The extension was completed in conjunction with architect Greg Blee, who was featured in the programme to explain his method behind the elegant design.

Triptych encompasses three slanted shards that face different directions, boosting the amount of natural light that enters the living areas. The volume adjoined to the kitchen faces the morning light, while the living room section is directed towards the evening. What’s more, we used an external timber finish on the building, complementing the overall look and rural feel of the property.

If you’re keen to catch up on the show, visit Channel 4 On Demand to watch Episode 1 – it’s eight minutes in! For further information on Triptych, check out our case study page here.
